Official OS 5.0.0.411 for 8900 (not 5.0.0.661)

OOPS! I did it again. The correct version of this release is 5.0.0.411, not 5.0.0.661. Sorry! I make that mistake often! Everything else still applies, corrected below.

MadMax, one of our favorite readers, informed us today of a new OS release for the 8900. This time it’s not a leak, it’s an official 5.0.0.411 (multilanguage) OS release via Vodafone UK. If you’re interested in giving it a try, just CLICK HERE from your desktop or notebook. No use trying to get it from your BlackBerry, you surely know that unless you’re a newbie. Please let us know in the comment section below if you like this release or not, and why. I want to give it a try, but I am way too busy to tinker with that today. I will probably upgrade a few days later.

Has T-Mobile Discontinued the 8900?

This tip came in to us from Oakie letting us know that he was looking through the T-Mobile online store and notice the BlackBerry 8900 is no longer on the list of available devices. This is kind of odd since the device has only been out for about a year and has been one of the best selling BlackBerry’s since it came out. The device was one of my favorites but with the 9700 being very similar and probably one of the best devices out there I could see the 8900 being overshadowed. The 9700 has 3G which the 8900 doesn’t but I believe there is still a market out there for that device not everyone has 3G from T-Mobile yet. I also check the site and when you go to shop for phones the device is missing, if you have any idea or want to voice your opinion sound off in the comments. If it was out of stock there be a notice not completely removed, right?

Official BlackBerry Curve 8900 OS 5.0.0.661

The last time I checked, the most recent official software for the BlackBerry Curve 8900 was OS 5.0.0.411. Optus Mobile are now listing OS 5.0.0.661 for the Curve 8900 so it might be worth checking out. Let us know if you see any major or minor improvements.

BlackBerry Curve 8900 OS 5.0.0.411 Officially Released

After the official release of 5.0 OS for BlackBerry Bold, we have now the same for BlackBerry Curve 8900 spotted by CrackBerry. Looking at the trend, expect the OS 5.0 for other models in near future. OS 5.0.0.411 for the BlackBerry Curve 8900 has been released by multiple carriers. If you are not on Optus Mobile, Vodafone DE or Vodafone Spain, remember to delete vendor.xml to update this OS through PC Desktop Manager.
