A few months back there was a fake BlackBerry Messenger message going around talking about how if you didn’t clear out your inactive users then your account would become inactive. After sites like BerryReporter warned everyone about this the message went away. However there seems to be a new message. Here’s what it says :
Were sorry to inform you, but due to the increasing amount of members using blackberry messenger, the system server can not withhold the amount of data being transmitted. Our server is currently being upgraded and we hope to have it running to its full potential by july 2010. Until then we ask you very kindly to help us with this misfortune by limiting your contacts. Please copy, paste and send this brief message to the contacts you use on a regular basis. The contacts that you don’t send the message to will be automatically deleted at 11:59pm ET on june 5, 2010. We sincerely apologize for this and have in return set up $20 dollars on your online account for blackberry accessories.
Now this message is truly fake! I went and look on BlackBerry’s website and saw nothing on the website talking about problems with BBM, I even took screen shots that I posted down below. I have said this before but I will say it again, RIM will never ever BBM you to inform you of a problem on their end. If they need to contact you they will contact you via your email that you provided them with when you bought your phone through your carrier. And sorry there is no $20 in your account! To whom ever is sending these messages out I wish you would stop because it does get pretty annoying.
