Many new BlackBerry users are intrigued by the barcode feature built into BlackBerry Messenger, but not everybody realizes just how easy it is to share via Facebook, Twitter, etc. Sharing your barcode on social networking sites allows other users to add you by scanning the barcode from BBM right off their computer screen! Before uploading your barcode, remember that depending on your profile’s (FB, Twitter, etc) privacy settings, anybody might be able to view/add you.
To upload your barcode, first save the image to your device. To do this, open BBM and click on your name at the top to open “My Profile”
Scroll to the bottom and select Display My Barcode
To save the image to your device, press Menu and select Save Barcode Image
Choose where you would like the image to be saved, and change the file name if you’d like
To upload the image to your favorite social networking profile, go to your pictures folder and open the image on your device. Press Menu, and select Send or Share… Choose the application you wish to upload the barcode image to. For this guide, the image will be uploaded to Facebook.
You can enter a caption, or in the case of Twitter, you can enter an accompanying Tweet to your image. Choose Upload (or Tweet), your barcode will now be available to friends, followers, etc!
