BlackBerry Torch 9800 launching on Rogers September 15th?

We already know there are 3 launch events planned for Canada to celebrate the Torch 9800 release, which will be taking place September 21st – 23rd, and we received word last month that Telus would be launching the device come September 16th, so this latest bit of info doesn’t come as much of a surprise. According to internal FutureShop documents, Rogers will be releasing the highly-anticipated device on September 15th, one day before Telus.

While the screenshot shows outright pricing of $999.99, this is apparently temporary within FutureShop systems, and will update to the actual pricing sometime closer to the launch date.

The day has finally come to a close, and AT&T customers everywhere are playing with their new devices instead of doing their evening chores or getting a good night’s rest for tomorrow’s work day. The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is probably one of the most anticipated handsets from RIM in the last few years, and we want to know if you think it’s living up to all the hype.

A lot of you replied when we asked who was making the switch from the Bold 9700, and now we want to know how many of you picked one up today. And for those of you who did, please share your impressions after a few hours of undoubtedly constant use.

So as a blogger I some times think of the most randomness questions. Sometimes I really analyze something to the max. Just a few hours ago I was watching tv and I looked at my BlackBerry Bold 9700 and thought to myself ” I wonder how many Bold 9700 users are going to be willing to make the jump to the BlackBerry Torch and how many aren’t” Lets think about it the Bold 9700 is an amazing device and a lot of people love it to death. It is definitely a workhorse device that lets you get done what you need to get down through out the day. Things like its perfectly formed keyboard to its amazing battery life. With BlackBerry 6 coming to the Bold 9700 one of these days, how many people are just going to wait till that day comes to grab OS 6. Don’t get me wrong the BlackBerry Torch is an amazing device and is probably the best BlackBerry on the market today. However is it enough to sway Bold 9700 users to switch?

What it really comes down to is how well OS 6 works on the Bold 9700. If BlackBerry 6 is amazing on the 9700 then I don’t think people are going to jump the ship as quickly as some might think. From all the reviews I have read already OS 6 seems like a memory hog and might not work that great on the 9700, however there is the chance of it working really well. Another thing you have to think of is if people want the touchscreen aspect of OS 6. The BlackBerry Storm devices did scare a lot of people away from Touchscreen RIM products. There are more points to weigh in, such as the Battery life of the 9700 compared to the Torch. How well will it be. Most reviewers are saying that the Torch battery life is pretty decent but we all know that the 9700 battery life is amazing. Another point is the 5 MP camera on the Torch compared to the 3.2 MP camera on the Bold 9700.

Now it is no surprise that I am going to be getting the BlackBerry Torch the day it comes out, but part of that is because I am a BlackBerry fanatic who wants all the latest BlackBerry units. What i am curious to see is how many times I switch back and forth between my 9700 and the Torch.

RIM Pondering Whether to Change the BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider to BlackBerry Tourch 9800

Seems rumor has it that Research in Motion (RIM) is considering launching the BlackBerry Slider 9800 as the BlackBerry Tourch. This would add another name to the BlackBerry family which already exist of the BlackBerry Bold, Curve, Pearl, and Storm. Now to some people it doesn’t really matter what you call the device it just matters what it does, but people like me actually look into it deeply ( call me crazy!). Seems like RIM has also bought the BlackBerryTourch.com domain name which shows that this is more of an idea. Now the last time that RIM developed a new device name ( The Tour series) it kind of flopped and is no longer part of the family. It might be due to the purchase of the company Tourch mobile.

Now my question is it a good idea to bring a new device name into the family? Also Why would they do this? Well think about it, if the BlackBerry Slider is a big failure and has the Bold Branding on it then it looks bad for the Bold series which is RIM’s Flagship series and has a pretty good history of being great devices. Now I don’t work for RIM so I don’t know what they are actually thinking but maybe this is close maybe not! Seems like some slider devices are already being manufactured down in RIM’s plant in Guadalajara, Mexico carrying the Torch branding. What do you all think? Is this a good idea or bad?

Here you go folks, a picture of the BlackBerry Bold 9800 aka BlackBerry Slider running the new webkit browser that RIM has been hinting about. This will defiantly be one of the first devices to run OS 6. If you take a close look at the screen you will see that the webkit browser just scored a 100/100 on the acid3 Test, which is basically a test that shows how well a web browser runs. Also we have learned from CrackBerry Kevin that the device will be a touchscreen device without SurePress that is found on the BlackBerry Storm devices, where it lets you highlight a icon and then press to click the icon. BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider Coming to AT&T in June?

So according to all the rumors floating around, we were told that OS 6.0 aka BlackBerry 6 is expected to launch sometime in June. Now was this intended for the actual OS or a device with OS pre-installed? According to rumors that came from RIM sources, the BlackBerry Bold 9800 (slider) is expected to hit the streets in June with AT&T. And yes OS 6.0 will be present as we saw in the leaked video (which has now been removed off the web). The device will be exclusive to AT&T for the time being, with a chance of Sprint by Q4. It’s funny seeing the Bold 9800 come in June alongside with the new iPhone that is expected to launch by then too. Talk about stealing the spotlight.

Again, since these are still rumors, there’s always chance for things happening otherwise. As we move along in this month, we should be seeing more confirmed leakage indicating a release of the BlackBerry Bold 9800.
